04. User Responsibilities
When engaging Gearsmith, you agree to provide accurate information about the timepiece, including its history, known faults, and any prior servicing or modifications. Incomplete or misleading information may affect the quality or scope of work we can carry out.

Accepted payment methods will be communicated at the time of quotation. Payment is generally due upon collection of the timepiece or prior to return shipping, as agreed.
Deposits
For heritage overhaul or complex projects, a deposit may be requested before work commences. The amount and conditions will be confirmed in writing before any deposit is requested.
Cancellation and Refunds
If you wish to withdraw a timepiece before work has commenced, please notify us as soon as possible. Where work has already begun, reasonable charges for time and materials already expended may apply. Each situation is reviewed on its own circumstances, and we aim to reach a fair outcome in every case.
07. Service-Specific Terms
Assessment and Scope
Prior to commencing any work, Gearsmith conducts a pre-work assessment. The findings, planned steps, and associated costs are shared with the owner before proceeding. Work will not begin without your informed agreement.
Timelines
Indicative turnaround times are provided for each service type and represent typical durations under normal workshop conditions. Complex or vintage pieces may require additional time. We will keep you informed of progress throughout.
Parts and Components
Where original manufacturer parts are unavailable, we will discuss suitable alternatives with you before sourcing. No substitution will be made without your knowledge.
Documentation
Gearsmith provides a written record of all work carried out. For heritage and complication overhauls, documentation covers each stage of the process so the owner has a complete account of decisions made.
Collection and Storage
Once work is complete and you have been notified, timepieces should be collected or return shipping arranged within a reasonable period. We will store completed pieces with care, but we cannot accept indefinite storage responsibility.
08. Disclaimers
The information on this website is provided for general reference and does not constitute professional horological, financial, or legal advice. Content is offered in good faith and updated periodically, but Gearsmith makes no representation that all information is current, complete, or suitable for your specific circumstances.
Watch repair outcomes depend on the condition and history of each individual piece. While we apply consistent standards of craft and care, Gearsmith does not make representations regarding specific results for any individual timepiece.
Gearsmith is an independent workshop. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting as an agent for any watch manufacturer or authorised service network.
09. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Thai law, Gearsmith's liability for any claim arising from services rendered shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for the specific service in question.
Gearsmith shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including loss of use, loss of value, or emotional distress related to a timepiece, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
Force Majeure
Gearsmith shall not be held responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural events, power outages, supply disruptions, or other external factors. We will communicate any such delays promptly and work with you on next steps.
Pre-existing Condition
We document the condition of each piece upon receipt. If a timepiece has undisclosed pre-existing damage or fragility that affects the outcome of service, Gearsmith's liability with respect to that condition is limited accordingly.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Gearsmith, its staff, and representatives harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your misuse of this website, your provision of inaccurate information, or your breach of these terms — except to the extent that such claims result from Gearsmith's own negligence or misconduct.
11. Termination
Either party may end a service arrangement before work commences by providing notice. If work has already begun, the provisions of Section 6 (Payment Terms) apply regarding costs incurred.
Gearsmith reserves the right to decline service to any individual, at our discretion, without being required to provide a reason. In such cases, any timepiece in our custody will be returned promptly.
Provisions relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution survive the conclusion of any service arrangement.
12. Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any matters arising from this Agreement are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Phuket Province, Thailand.
Informal Resolution
If you have a concern, we encourage you to contact us directly at [email protected] before pursuing any formal process. Most matters can be resolved through open and respectful communication, and we are committed to addressing concerns thoughtfully.
Formal Proceedings
If informal resolution is not achievable, either party may pursue their rights through the appropriate Thai civil courts. Consumers in Thailand may also refer matters to the Office of Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) where applicable.
13. General Provisions
- Entire Agreement: These terms, together with any written service quotation, represent the complete understanding between you and Gearsmith regarding the subject matter.
- Severability: If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be adjusted to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining terms will continue in full effect.
- Waiver: Gearsmith's failure to enforce any provision at any time does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any right to enforce it later.
- Assignment: You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms to a third party without prior written consent from Gearsmith.
- Notices: Formal notices should be submitted in writing to [email protected] or by post to our registered workshop address.
